Level 1

Start Sailing

Over the course of one week, you'll learn all the basics of sailing.

Our experienced instructors will guide you every step of the way, ensuring you feel confident and safe on the water.

Each day you'll get plenty of experience on the water, rotating with your crew-mates in different spots on the boat. You'll learn how to charter a yacht, handle the boat, read and use the charts and plot courses, crew safety and plenty more.

But it's not all work and no play! You'll get to explore stunning coastal landscapes, swim* in crystal clear waters, and experience the thrill of sailing on the open seas.

At the end of the course, you'll have a solid foundation in sailing and be ready to take on more advanced courses (shameless plug … we offer those as well). You'll also have memories to last a lifetime and newfound confidence in yourself and your abilities.

So come join us for an unforgettable sailing adventure and discover the magic of the sea.

*we don’t encourage swimming in cold water in April

Learning to sail in the springtime may seem daunting, but it's actually the perfect time to hone your skills. With cooler temperatures, you'll have a chance to practice sailing in different wind conditions, from light breezes to stronger gusts. Plus, with fewer crowds on the water, you'll have more space to explore and learn.

What to ACTUALLY expect:

  1. A friendly instructor eager to teach you everything you need to know about sailing and having a good time.

  2. A full week packed to the brim with knots, docking maneuvers, motoring out at sea, real sailing techniques using the wind power and a lot of safety drills.

  3. Anchoring under power and sails.

  4. Daily briefings that will better prepare you for what’s next.

  5. A lot of work! We’re serious. Sailing is exceptional fun but learning it in 7 days is not for everyone. We promise to pinpoint each and everyone of your struggles and work on those the most.

  6. Alongside, stern to, med mooring, bow to, MOB, sail trimming, reefing, heave to, tacking and gybing, we do it all!

  7. Basic engine checks, dingy use, crew management

  8. Laughter. Each day. All day.

  9. And last but not least … a lot of Bougatsa and great food at taverns

Is it FREE?

Ha! Ha! Of course not!

FAQs

    • Two webinars ahead of the actual sailing week.

    • 7 days of training

    • Basic groceries (water, breakfast items, snacks, fruit, tea & coffee)

    • The actual training boat equipped with towels and linen.

    • Accommodation on board

    • Transport to and from the departure marina

    • Insurance 100€/Pers but if we all behave you’ll get this back at the end of week;

    • Fuel cost, aprox 40 Euro/pers

  • We recommend monohulls between 38-45ft. The smaller the boat, the faster it responds to your commands and the easier it for us to teach all sorts of maneuvers. The bigger boats are more comfortable to live in but you’re compromising on feedback.

  • Most people do but you’ll soon find out that it’s not as easy as it looks. We have a 4 tier system and at the end of the week you’ll end up on one of those tiers:

    • competent crew (you’re not a skipper yet so the best thing moving forward would be to help other skippers but don’t cross the Atlantic on your own just yet)

    • sail with a skipper (you’ve mastered the basics but we strongly believe your next sailing adventure should happen under the wing of a more experienced skipper)

    • sail with your best friend (you’re showing signs of a talented skipper and for your next sail all you need is a person you can trust to help out a little)

    • sail with your family (you’ve probably sailed before and this course was a refresher so we have no problem with you renting your own boat and start island-hopping)

    • a sleeping bag (for spring sailing)

    • warm clothes that you can wear in layers (it’s better to take a layer off than not having anything else to put on)

    • Windproof / Waterproof cover layer

    • enough money to feed and keep you hydrated for a week

  • We put on foul weather gear and keep learning. And if the weather is terrible with a lot of rain and no sunshine, we double down on theory and master marina maneuvers and cheer ourselves up with rum at the end of the day.

  • Not really but we’ve noticed people of relatively same age tend to function better together so we’re trying to avoid big age-gaps.

P.S. If you’re going for RYA DaySkipper after this, just know that you need to be 18 years of age for a valid license.

  • If by any chance you want to do this course a second time there’s a 10% discount.

Also, if you bring 4 friends on the same boat with you there’s a 100% discount on your spot. You’re free to share the discount with your friends, we don’t mind.

  • If you have to cancel last minute there’s not much we can do about it. The payments are non-refundable. But we’re here to make sure everyone is going to have the best experience so we’ll start an accelerated process of finding you a replacement. If we manage to do that we’ll only keep the reservation (320 Euro).

And the best part is we can discount the reservation if you want to reschedule.
