PSP has risen to the demand of those chasing the sun, and some of the most prestigious sailing events in the 2010 Caribbean regatta calendar, by launching the first of its regular sailings to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.  

The Hampshire-based freight forwarding firm, which specialises in worldwide boat transportation, is preparing to ship yachts and motorboats from Southampton to the Caribbean at the end of November.

PSP’s expert team, made up of surveyors, load masters and divers, will have two days to lift the boats out of the water and onto a chartered cargo vessel in Southampton’s King George V Dock.

Around 10 boat transportation experts will undertake the mammoth logistical task, which involves diving underwater to attach lifting slings to the bottom of the boat. The boats are then lifted out securely, put onto PSP cradles, lashed and welded to the deck. 

Once the precious cargo is on board, it will make the 14-day journey to the US Virgin Islands, where it will be met by staff from PSP’s Antigua office and staff from PSP’s headquarters in Hampshire. Together, they will work together seamlessly to unload the boats ready for the racing season.

This is the first of PSP’s regular sailings to the Caribbean. The new service will benefit both existing and potential customers, who can rely on PSP to get their vessels to the tropical destination quickly, safely and in time for the racing season.
